Happy Holidays!
The Schuhplattlers are getting ready for winter break which will be from December 7th to January 15th. We hope everyone enjoys spending time with their loved ones during this holiday season. We will still be dancing at the President’s Ball in January.
As promised last month, we are proud to announce the results of the competitions nine of our members participated in at the end of October. The Bayerischer Löwe: Chris Collins placed 24th, Kristen Collins 12th, Maria Rase 8th, and Michael Rase 15th! The next weekend was the Huosigau competition where we had nine individuals as well as a team of four couples compete. The individual results were as follows: Deandl Age 17-29: Leah Collins-19th place, Stefanie Kirsch-11th, Kristen Collins-4th. Buam Age 17-29: Chris Collins-18th place, Shawn Collins-6th. Deandl Age 30-49: Maria Rase-4th place. Buam Age 30-49: Bill Collins-24th place, Michael Rase-14th. Buam 50+: Otto Gorner-2nd place! Our team did exceptionally well also! Kristen, Leah, Maria, Stefanie, Bill, Chris, Michael, and Shawn represented us as a team and took 2nd place! Just as in the Gauverband Nordamerika the top three individuals and the top two teams are invited to the next year’s Bayerischer Löwe so the team AND Otto have been invited to represent the T.E.V. Edelweiss and the Huosigau next June! This is an honor that we only dreamed of and we will be proud to compete again next year! The team would like to send a HUGE “Thank You!” to Deanna Dozsak for helping fill in for missing team members at practices. We certainly couldn’t have done it without her!
The Gauerband Nordamerika 2009 Gaufest will be August 13-16 in Toledo, Ohio. Adult tickets are $140 and all of our members are invited to come to this educational and fun event. If you would like to sit with the group at the festival you must have your ticket money to Bill Collins by January 10th as he is submitting our club’s registration. Please see any of the Schuhplattler officers if you have any questions regarding the upcoming Gaufest.
